Who needs a CDR… and why do they need one?
Any homeowner can benefit from having a CDR. It is a snapshot of the current drainage parameters of your home. Those parameters can change over time. The CDR establishes the baseline, so that any changes, due to whatever reason, can be tracked over time. It is certified, stamped, and signed by a South Carolina Professional Engineer and is a tool that can be used at a future date for mitigation, restoration, and / or restitution purposes.
Why would “drainage parameters” change?
If you have lived along the SC Coast for any length of time, there is one thing you have noticed… GROWTH. But, it is not just growth, a number of variables affect our drainage patterns here. Maybe someone upstream cleared some land, causing more runoff. Maybe a family of beavers decided the ditch downstream of your subdivision was a good place to raise a family. Maybe the agency responsible for maintaining the system is shorthanded and ‘deferred’ some activities during the dry times. Or, maybe we have just grown too fast and the infrastructure needs upgrading.
We have experienced so many changes along the Coast up until now. Imagine tomorrow…
The possibilities are endless. Without a CDR to establish the baseline, however, there is no way to compare the changes.
